Finding Inspiration In My Garden

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a up of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  I bought some beautiful Sunflowers at Trader Joe's and combined them with  red Roses.

Let's join Bentley, My Studio Assistant, in the garden to look for inspiration for a new painting for my dining room to replace one that is now hanging in the Heart of the Island gallery on Balboa Island.

I want to paint something with a flag, blue and white china and Sunflowers with  a beach cottage feel. My flag ends up in lots of my paintings!

My Inpatients have been beautiful this year until  recently when I noticed that some of them were dying. I spoke  to our local  nursery and found out that California has an airborne virus that is attacking our Impatient plants and within a year almost all of the plants will die as there is no a cure for the virus.

                                                       The last of my Inpatients.

So sad to see them go as they are beautiful almost all year around .

I love adding touches of yellow in the garden to give a pop of color.

I ended up painting the flag in the background and arranging the Sunflowers in a blue and white vase and adding the  blue and white tea set on a yellow table cloth sitting on the Bistro table.

Let's go inside and I will show you where I hung the new painting. The flag pillows scream Summer to me and I love putting them out in Spring and Summer.

Bentley is all settled in and waiting for his "snack time" when I have a cup of tea.

The living room is right off the dining room and I wanted to coordinate the new painting to go with the ones in the living room.

Thank you for stopping by.  I love hearing from you and sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those of you who follow my blog.  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Karen Valentine made me a new navigation bar so you can find old posts according to subjects. The Art 101 button will take you to some of my very, very simple tutorials on how to paint little seasonal garden signs. She also made me a pin so I can pin to Pinterest directly from my blog and you can now get to my pins directly from my blog..  I will be on a little blog break for a few weeks while I recover from knee replacement surgery and  hope to be able to paint some small flower paintings while going through the rehab portion and will share with you when I can.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings,  Erin

The painting is absolutely gorgeous. I love where you displayed it, and I love how your walls are simply white to showcase your colorful art perfectly. This is something I plan to do when we move to our new house, white walls so art could stand out as it should. Our daughter loves to paint.
Always great stopping by, Erin, and always such a treat seeing Bentley too. Here's to a speedy knee surgery recovery.
Much love.

First dear, I hope so much your knee surgery goes well and I think there will be many lovely paintings done as you recuperate!!!

Erin, your home is SO beautiful, inside and out. I love how your colorful paintings bring the outdoors in, lighting up the rooms and making each corner so inviting. I see Bentley, handsome as ever, guarding everything too.

You're correct (I looked it up to learn more) and that's sad news about the impatiens plants - I'd not heard of them being at risk, seemed like they were made of iron, blooming in the heat and surviving in places where there's traffic and pollution. Seems they are dying from this downy mildew/mold all over America now and plants may not be offered for sale.

Love your flowers - especially the sunflowers of course.

Be well soon dear friend - hope you have some help awaiting you as you gain your walking ability back - I know Bentley will be anxious for you to take him 'walkies' again!

Love and hugs - NC is definitely cooler this past week and today we are expecting rain which the garden will appreciate.

Let us know how things go.

These pictures literally made me drool! They are incredible pics because they look like they are also paintings. I thought for a minute that Bentley was painted on the floor! No, I'm not drinking. LOL
I always love seeing your delightful posts.

Don 't be surprised if I show up on your doorstep one day. Your home is so inviting.

Do they still sell what I remember as Balboa Bars - squares of ice cream dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts. They were at a corner stand, not on the island, but over on the Balboa side, not Newport. Oh, they were yummy!
