Painting Yellow Cottage Roses

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by .  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  Last Friday I was in Trader Joe's and an employee was pushing around a shopping cart filled with bouquet's of a dozen roses in all colors.  To my delight and surprise the employee was giving the roses to the customers in the store - he even let everyone pick their favorite color.  I picked yellow.

Let's join Bentley, my helpful Studio Assistant, and he will show you the yellow roses.

I love blue and yellow together and put the bouquet of yellow roses in a blue an white vase.  I was having tea in a blue and white tea cup and loved the way they looked together.

I decided to paint the blue and yellow vase with the cottage yellow roses with the blue and white tea cup.

Flower Shoppe Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.

Bentley, my Studio Assistant, has not bee able to find any flower inspirations as our garden is not yet in bloom.  Thankfully I have lots of photographs of  flower markets to  use for inspiration during the winter months.

Finding inspiration . . . . . .

Here . . . . . .

There . . . . . .

Everywhere . . . . . .

As you can see from the photographs I had lots of inspiration for my Flower Shoppe painting.

I was inspired by the painting to re-arrange the day bed in my office by changing the pillows around so I could hang the new painting over the day bed. The room is always filled with sun and a wonderful place to curl up and read.

Thank you for stopping by.  I love hearing from you and sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those who follow my blog.  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Rose Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  With Valentines Day right around the corner I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my photographs of roses (since my roses are not in bloom his time of year) that were the inspirations for  my art.

Finding inspiration - Red Roses . . . . . .

One of my favorite photos of Bentley, my Studio Assistant, stopping to smell the roses!  The rose is the flower of love and has inspired poets, musicians and painters for centuries.  I love painting roses and each time I pick up my brush to paint one I am reminded that roses are a gift to the spirit.

Finding inspiration - White Roses . . . . . .

Finding inspiration - Pink Roses . . . . .

Hyacinth Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  We are having beautiful warm weather in Southern California.  Let's join my Studio Assistant, Bentley, in he garden to see what is growing.

Late last year I bought a bag containing 28 Hyacinths and decided to plant all 28 in various containers.

Hyacinths are very fragrant and in flower symbolism  represents constancy - the blue Hyacinth represents
sincerity.

I planted a few of the bulbs in old mason jars using little stones instead of soil and also used various containers for interest. . . and also because I did not have 28 pots!!! AND - I did not hoard all 28 bulbs- I shared them with my friends and neighbors.

The bulbs came up in pink and blue and were all shapes and sizes and  I was very happy with the colors.

Sharing one of my garden painting with a potted pink Hyacinth.
