Spring in the Garden

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My  garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you Spring in my small garden.

Bentley, my Studio Assistant, is waiting to show you around.

The garden entrance is pea gravel and has the feel of an English cottage garden. 

The flowers and decor in the garden are very seasonal. I like to use yellows, pinks, whites and lavender flowers in the Spring and keep the colors softer than the Summer garden that is a riot of bright colors.

The welcome sap bucket is always filled with season flowers and is attached to the back of a garden chair in the seating area.

The path winds around to the little potting bench and eating area.

"Blossom", the vintage dress form oversees the garden.

The perfect place for us to stop for tea.

The path winds around to the kitchen garden where herbs are grown in pots.

A lovely spot to sit in the morning sun to sit and have a cup of tea.

Touches of Easter Whimsy in the Garden

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share a few early Spring and Easter decorations in the garden.  This is the time of the year when my vintage rabbits appear in the garden and take their place with the rabbits that always live in the garden.

The welcome sap bucket is one of my favorite containers for flowers as it hangs on the back of a chair.

Blossom, our garden vintage dress form, consider herself a "fashionista" and loves to change outfits to fit the season.

Magical Abstract Florals with Eastside Art

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  Today you are invited into my studio for a cup of tea to sit and relax for a few minutes while I share with you some of the magical abstract florals our Eastside art group created.  Once a month 9 creative artists get together for a day of fun , art and creativity.  We  take turns hosting the gathering and each artist teaches a form of art  - it may be painting, collage, fiber art, metal smiting,  jewelry, weaving, gourd art, clay art, print making, journaling, sewing, gourmet cooking etc.  March was my month to teach and since Spring is around the corner I taught abstract florals.

Let's join Bentley, my Studio Assistant, to go into the studio to show you some of the magic everyone created.

The studio was all ready for the magic to begin,

The first thing we did was sprinkle charcoal powder onto watercolor paper and then pour water onto the paper to  create designs.  We then looked for various patterns on the paper to use to create flowers, faces, figures, etc.

And creating magic began.

Fresh flowers for inspiration.

I demonstrated the process using samples that I created - if you look closely you can see the patterns  in the background created by the charcoal.

Norma used a stencil to  create this beautiful piece of coral.  

Her paint palette looked like an abstract painting.

Jackie created amazing faces.

Jose painted beautiful flowers and abstract pieces.

The paint pallets were beautiful and looked like abstract art forms.

Sherrill , Jeri and Linda created figures.  Their flowers were lovely and unfortunately

I did not get photos of them. Sorry Jody, I took the photos before you arrived and did not get any of your creations.

Flowers were created using all kinds of techniques - splattering, traditional brushes and finger painting.

Libby created a variety of magical flowers.

I found sunflowers in my charcoal splatters and a bouquet of flowers from paint splatters in my demo painting.
