Early Summer Garden Tour

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea for a few minutes while I share my early Summer small space garden with you.

Bentley, my Studio/Garden Assistant, is waiting to show you around.
The vintage metal market basket is located inside the front gate to welcome visitors and is filled with seasonal flowers.

Our small space garden is divided into little rooms filled with vintage finds. The first room is pea gravel lined with a brick sidewalk.

The blue bicycle basket is also filled with season plants/flowers.  Flags and flag pillows come out around Memorial Day and stay throughout the summer months.

The seating area is located across from the front porch. Our neighborhood is located about two miles from the Newport Bay and Pacific Ocean where small lots are a trade off for ocean breezes and located within a bicycle ride to the beach.  Our lot is small and every inch is used to maximize its use - most of the flowers are planted in containers which make it easy to change around seasonal plants .
A vintage sap bucket welcomes visitor to the seating area.

I painted faux flagstones to create a walkway around the garden rooms.  This one leads past the potting bench to the little table where we have lunch or afternoon teas.

"Blossom" the vintage dress form watches over the garden - she is a fashionista and changes her outfits often.

This is my favorite reading nook - located in a corner across from the dining table.

The path leads behind the house to the Sunflower Garden that gets sun all day.

Bentley loves this part of the garden and likes to nap in the sun.

The path leads to the kitchen garden where we grow herbs for cooking and is the perfect place to have tea in the morning.

Sunflower and Hydrangea Painting Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you inspirations for my art.  This time of year I have a lot of request for Sunflower paintings with flowers in season and I have been busy in my studio painting.

Let's join Bentley, my Studio Assistant, to share with you a few inspirations for recent paintings.

Our California Farmer Markets seem to have Sunflowers year round and my container Hydrangeas and Sunflowers are just starting to bloom.  I love the yellows and purple/lavender colors together and especially love how they look combined in a vintage Mason jar.

I also added a touch of pink Hydrangea to this painting for an extra pop of color.

I used the blueish/lavender Hydrangeas in this painting and also added the little garden bird.

I painted this one on a pre-printed newsprint canvas for a different look.
