Let's Go On A garden Tour

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  Today I am going to take you with me to have tea at the beautiful Sherman Library and Gardens in the Tea Garden located by one of the lovely fountains and then we will tour the gardens.

The gardens are located in Newport Beach on two acres right off the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, and feature flowers and plants displayed in a beautiful setting of fountains, sculpture and shrubs and lawns. The library features research devoted to the study of the Pacific Southwest since the late 1800's and is a very interesting place to visit.

The adorable California sea otter greets visitors to the gardens.

The Rose garden features Roses in all colors and varieties.

Large flower beds and numerous hanging baskets radiate seasonal color and accent the early California architectural theme of the surrounding buildings.

The garden is dotted with beautiful bird sculptures made from drift wood.

The green house features unusual tropical plants and flowers.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.  I love hearing from you and sincerely appreciate your e-mails, comments and those following my blog.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings,  Erin

Hydrangea Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  I love panting Hydrangeas and am always so happy when they are in bloom.  Last year I accidentally over feed several of my favorite Hydrangea bushes and they have not  bloomed this year. Needless to say  I  learned the hard way to go easy on the food..

Let's join Bentley, my Studio/Garden Assistant, in the garden to look for Hydrangea inspirations that have appeared in some of my paintings - I love the purple/blue ones and did not realize how often I paint them until I looked around my studio!!!!

Thank you for stopping by.  I love hearing from you and sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those of you who follow my blog  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings, Erin

Painting Lilacs

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  The sky is blue, the birds are chirping and it is a glorious day to be in the garden in Southern California.  Let's join Bentley, My Studio and Garden Assistant, in the garden to look for inspiration.

As usual, Bentley, takes time out to stop and smell the flowers.  The Stock are so fragrant he really likes to smell them.

I love the smell of Lilacs and was thrilled to find large bunches of  our California Lilacs at Trader Joe's.  They come in white, lilac and lavender and the ones at Trader Joe's were more of a lilac color than lavender.

I love the way the Lilacs look in the white buckets and decided to paint them in the bucket and paint them lavender rather than lilac.

One of the fun things about painting is I can use flowers for inspiration and paint them any color I want to!
I painted my Lilacs lavender rather than lilac.

Thank you for stopping by.  I love hearing from you and sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, nice comments and those who follow my blog. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings,  Erin

More Pansy Love

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea and enjoy the Pansies with me.  In spite of having a heat wave in Southern California our Pansies are still blooming in all of their glory.

My new article on Pansy Love was just published in  Southern Guide to Life. The article can be found at www.southernguidetolife.com.  Let's join Bentley, my Garden Assistant, and stop and smell the Pansies and share with you some of the photos in my article as well as some new ones.

The tangerine Pansies are new this year and I love the contrast of the colors in the garden.

I started adding pops of lime green this year and love the way the color brightens the flowers.

Thank you for stopping by.  I sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those of you who follow my blog .  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings,  Erin

Sunflower Inspirations

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art. I love painting Sunflowers and they are one of my signature flowers to paint.  I have been organizing older photos of my paintings and came across this one that was one of my favorites and it inspired me to pick up a bunch of Sunflowers from the market to paint.

Let's join Bentley, my Studio Assistant, in the garden to look for inspiration for a new Sunflower painting.

Looks like Bentley is thinking about where to look for inspiration!

The Sunflower Garden vintage sign is one of my favorites and I like to move it around the garden.

I love the Sunflowers in the green vintage watering can and can see them in a simple
little painting sitting on the red chair.

Yellow and purple are a lovely combination and I used them in the new painting.

                                                          The completed painting.
