Re-purposing a Painting

Welcome.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit with a cup of tea while I share with you the inspirations for my art.  One of my personal goals this year is to re-purpose and freshen up my home, garden and  some of my paintings using what I already have - "it's not what you don't have - but  what you do with what you already have" is one of my favorite sayings.  Let's join Bentley my Studio Assistant, in the garden to see what is in bloom for inspiration to re-purpose one of my Potting Shed paintings.

I planted bulbs late last year so we would have blooms in January and February.

The Hyacinths are beautiful and I want to paint some of them.

This is the painting I want to freshen up.  I feel it is a little too dark and want to add a window and some of the blue Hyacinths.

I painted out the sign and added a window, birds nest, and painted out some of the flowers under the table.  I am also going to paint the chair white instead of green.

Here is the completed painting.  I decided that the chair looked better green and will paint it green - that will be for another day.

Thank you for stopping by.  I sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those of you following my blog. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings, Erin

"For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in  peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song."  Isaiah 55:12

Well, when I first saw it, I thought "what's not to love." But when I saw the re-do, I realized how wise you were to look critically at your work -- it really does perk it up into a much brighter painting.

Marvelous photo of your assistant! Mine is purring on the desk beside me!

It's funny we always fiddle with our paintings sometimes for the better sometimes not.
I think you have improved it but I do like the chair green.

What a beautiful painting. I can almost smell the hyacinths. Intoxicating is how I describe the smell of flowers. You are so talented. Love you dog.

The first version of your painting was very pretty, but the changes you made, especially painting a in the window, really did turn up the brightness factor. It was and is a beautiful painting! It's fun to see your paintings and your flowers that were the inspiration.

As usual - gorgeous.

I just bought a little cloche and now I have an idea how to use it.

What a lovely re-paint! I loved the first painting as well though!:D I would be petrified to re-paint one of my paintings so you are a much braver soul than I! I just love your art! And, Bentley too! :D

Oh Erin - love your work. I have seen your work in the different magazine and didn't realize that you live in Orange County. I live in Fullerton.
I am your newest follower - stop by and see my gardens. I am so glad to be following you.
Have a great week. What wonderful work you do for those ladies. God bless you.

Glad you liked my blog posts on color Erin; my new blouses could have been painted by you, ha! I liked my last white/neutral home, but over time, I missed more cozy bright colors! Like your home is too. Happy 2014! Yes, take the train down to visit and we'll have tea by your paintings hanging on the wall in our dining nook. :) Speaking of which, take a look at my Lavender Bistro blog post--we ate there at Christmas and dressed up in purple like the restaurant decor! :) Gorgeous place of color!
