Breast Cancer Awareness Celebration Give Away

                                         ART FOR A CURE

Welcome dear readers.  I am so happy that you stopped by. My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax while I share inspirations for my art with you.  Today is extra special in my garden.  We are celebrating the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the the 4th year anniversary of my blog AND that I am now a very lucky TEN year survivor of breast cancer . Make yourself comfortable and I will tell you about my celebration give away. It is a little different from most of my giveaways as I am asking YOU for your input on something !!!!  I made apple spice cake and hot apple cider for you.

Bentley, my Studio Assistant, has learned if he sits very still that he will get a little bite.

Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer?  I encourage you to get your annual check ups as my breast cancer was found at my annual check up and mammogram and I feel so lucky that it was caught early.  Now on to a little inspiration and the celebration giveaway and how you can enter.

                                              GIVEAWAY:
A fifty dollar VISA gift card and 3 of my original hand painted 3x3 canvases with various pink flowers and blank cards with envelopes - kind of like a :       "message /gift in an envelope".

                                       ART FOR A CURE

The photo below shows the back of the canvas  on the left that can be written or stamped on with a little message- get well - birthday - friendship, etc.  I call them "message /gift in an envelope" - as the mini painting is a little gift and can also be used as a  card.

I also paint them in lots of different colors in addition to pinks.

ART FOR A CURE :
Now - in order to enter to  win I am asking YOU to help me with some advise.  When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I had so many questions and fears and a friend suggested that I go to the Susan Komen website at ww5komen.org- they had a local chapter in my county with testimonials from women in my area who had gone through the  same thing that I was going through. One lady worked in the building next to mine and she talked about working the whole time she was going through chemo and radiation.  I was so inspired by her that I ended up working for most of the time I was going through treatment - it was not easy, but I had a roll model.   I made a commitment to use my art to help raise money to find a cure for breast cancer, and  have been looking for a new way to raise money using my art to donate to the Susan Komen Foundation.  In the past I have donated a certain percentage from sales of my art at the gallery or paintings to use as prizes or silent auction items.  I am looking for something small and manageable that I can donate 100% of the sale to the Susan Komen Foundation and came up with the idea of selling the mini 3x3 canvases with a blank card and envelope  - kind of like a "message /gift in an envelope " at my next art show or in my ETSY shop.  The mini 3x3 canvas can be a gift as well as a card - kind of a two for one thingy.

To enter my giveaway - simply leave me a comment - one way or another -as to what you think about the idea of a "message/gift  in an envelope" ?  I   hope that I explained my idea well enough for you to understand - if you don't get it - I understand and just leave a comment that it was confusing. Any comment will qualify for the drawing to win my giveaway that will be announced on Friday October 19th.  Sorry - anonymous comments will  not quality . If you are a follower of my blog your name will be put in the hat twice.  Thank you for your input and  participation in my quest to use  my ART FOR A CURE.

Thank you for visiting.  I sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those who follow my blog. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings, Erin

GIVEAWAY WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON  OCTOBER 19TH.

Please put me in the running for your sweet contest.
Yes, I like your idea of selling the tiny canvases as a fund raiser, and I think folks will buy them. My favorite is the multi-colored posies.

Oh my, what a pretty post! I love your little cards. They are so pretty; especially like the pink! I think folks are always ready and filling to help out with a worthy cause. So, yes, I like your idea.
I just posted about my friend who lost her battle with breast cancer. I'm glad you beat it, my friend! Have a lovely weekend and take care.

Blessings,
Sandi

i like the idea, it's like a card but much more classy and not nearly as likely to be thrown away like a card would be, the receiver can keep it around for years and remember you

Before you asked whether we liked this idea, I was wondering how I might be able to purchase one. I have someone in mind who I know would love to receive one. If I am your lucky winner, I will send one to her. If not, I am hoping they will be available for sale in your Etsy shop. It would be even more meaningful to know the proceeds would benefit such a worthy cause. So, yes, I like this idea very much!
Thank you for sharing your personal story. So happy to hear that you are a ten year survivor.

I think the little gift cards are delightful. My friends daughter is having her surgery this week after 6 bouts of kemo. It is so frightening, but as you have shown, one can beat this awful decease if caught early. It is so sweet of you to be raising money for a worthwhile cause. xx

What a wonderful giveaway and a great cause. Please enter my name. I think it will be a great idea to make the gift card canvas to put in your etsy shop. They are lovely.

One of my childhood friends died of breat cancer when she was only 26 years old. She left behind two little babies and a great Husband.

I think it would be a great idea to include the cards in your Etsy shop, Erin. They would be beautiful and an affordable way to share art. It would also spread your work around - which I know isn't your goal necessarily but would even add to the awareness and sales some.

Like others, we've had so much cancer in our family and among friends. Some day... there will be a cure for breast cancer.

I think this is a very nice idea... these mini canvases are super cute, and in the midst of a Maine winter would be wonderful to look at some flowers and know Spring is not too far away... I think that there are small enough frames so that you could even frame them as well. That way the recipient gets a small piece of original art and knows you are thinking of them. Have a great week ahead!

Erin,
Yes, I would love a chance to win your giveaway. Your cards are so pretty, and I often write little notes to my 83 year old aunt and send them through the mail. My cousin is going through this right now, and I pray for her often. What a wonderful post this is.

I had no idea you are a cancer survivor. I was thinking as you were writing and realized that the information you picked up from the woman who worked through her chemo/treatment was a real blessing. Knowing someone else had done it surely had to help you get through it. I can't imagine having to go through any of it. Glad you survived the cancer. What a blessing to you.

I think your idea is a very good idea and a very worthy cause. Of course, I love all of your art, so you know I would love the 3x3 idea just as much. I can imagine that people would enjoy receiving the very unique 3x3's envelope/card ... it would be difficult not to frame them and keep them (in my opinion).

I'm glad you survived and are enjoying your life and art.

Give Bentley a big hug for me.
