I wanted the painting to have a vintage look and instead of painting the roses in the white vase I decided to use an old silver vase instead.

I loved the look of the roses in the old silver dish and this was the final inspiration.

I am happy to report that Shirley is doing great and is a very thankful cancer survivor. First, let me say how happy I am to know of the money raised in order to help someone else get a makeover - or an inspiration to stay positive - as I would put it.
This painting is beautiful, and I already know where it is going in my bedroom.
The summer after my major surgery, my DH helped me to do my own bedroom makeover into a shabby chic style that really lifted my spirits. This painting will just be the "icing on the cake."
