More "Tea Thyme" paintings

Please join me and Bentley, my Studio Assistant, for a look around my garden to find inspiration for more "Tea Thyme" paintings. Last week I painted roses and this week I want to find something a little different.

Finding inspiration . . . . .

Here . . . . . . .

There . . . . .

Everywhere . . . . .

Hmmm . . . looks like Bentley has found some pretty pansies.

The pansies would look nice on the tea pot!!!

Now that we found our inspiration, let's paint a tea pot and tea cup using the pansies.

First, I sketch the drawing. For the beginners following my process, you are welcome to copy my drawing.

Next I base coat the tea pot and tea cup and add the shadow behind the tea cup. I always like to use a blue or lavender to base coat and then start building up the white.

The next step is to lightly paint in the pansies to get a feel for what the painting will look like. Since I do not have a tea pot and cup in a pansy pattern, I just painted the flowers where I feel they would have been on the china.

I like to compare the finished painting to the flowers for color and form. In this painting, I painted the flowers much lighter since they are on china.

Thank you for visiting. I love to hear from you and sincerely appreciate your comments and those who follow my blog. If you would like to see me paint something special or have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment or send me an e-mail. Have a lovely week.

Blessings, Erin

I LOVE the way you show us how to do this!!! Ok, I'm all excited now but have company & can't paint. :0{ I have a few minutes to put plant pansies in a pot though!

Thanks Erin! You're the best!

Ooohhh... do you use Liquitex paint???
