Fall Garden Tour

Welcome. I am so happy that you stopped by. My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax with a cup of tea while I take you on a Fall tour of my garden.  My hard drive crashed and for some reason now that it has been fixed I am unable  to download new photos to take you on a current tour of my garden so I am republishing this garden tour post that I published in 2010.

Bentley, my Studio Assistant, is not sure what to make of the little scarecrow.

I found this funny "skinny" scarecrow last year and put him out again this year to watch over my little garden.

My old vintage Rocket bicycle is all decked out with fall leaves and berries.

Looks like Bentley is getting used to the scarecrows and is now ignoring them.

Every year I hang an old container planted with Mums on the back of one of my Adirondack chairs.

My potting bench. I moved this little scarecrow lady around the garden until I found the right home for her and she ended up sitting on top of the potting bench.

She has very long and skinny "scarecrow" legs.

I love this grass and did not plant it - just left it in the pot and placed it behind several pumpkins. It reminds me of a fall harvest.

Isn't this little lady adorable all dressed up in her red and white check shirt with pony tails?

The winner of the drawing for the $50.00 gift card and mini cards is Stacey of Poofing the Pillows.  Congratulations Stacey. Please send me an e-mail with your address so I can send your prize.

The warm Fall weather in Southern California has been great at extending the growing season for our roses. They are on their fourth bloom. I am going to paint a pink French bicycle to donate as a raffle prize for a breast cancer fundraiser at Paris In A Cup.  Let's join Bentley, my Studio Assistant, in the garden to look for pink roses for inspiration.

Breast Cancer Awareness Celebration Give Away

                                         ART FOR A CURE

Welcome dear readers.  I am so happy that you stopped by. My garden gate is always open for you to come in and sit and relax while I share inspirations for my art with you.  Today is extra special in my garden.  We are celebrating the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the the 4th year anniversary of my blog AND that I am now a very lucky TEN year survivor of breast cancer . Make yourself comfortable and I will tell you about my celebration give away. It is a little different from most of my giveaways as I am asking YOU for your input on something !!!!  I made apple spice cake and hot apple cider for you.

Bentley, my Studio Assistant, has learned if he sits very still that he will get a little bite.

Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer?  I encourage you to get your annual check ups as my breast cancer was found at my annual check up and mammogram and I feel so lucky that it was caught early.  Now on to a little inspiration and the celebration giveaway and how you can enter.

A fifty dollar VISA gift card and 3 of my original hand painted 3x3 canvases with various pink flowers and blank cards with envelopes - kind of like a :       "message /gift in an envelope".

                                       ART FOR A CURE

The photo below shows the back of the canvas  on the left that can be written or stamped on with a little message- get well - birthday - friendship, etc.  I call them "message /gift in an envelope" - as the mini painting is a little gift and can also be used as a  card.

I also paint them in lots of different colors in addition to pinks.

ART FOR A CURE :
Now - in order to enter to  win I am asking YOU to help me with some advise.  When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I had so many questions and fears and a friend suggested that I go to the Susan Komen website at they had a local chapter in my county with testimonials from women in my area who had gone through the  same thing that I was going through. One lady worked in the building next to mine and she talked about working the whole time she was going through chemo and radiation.  I was so inspired by her that I ended up working for most of the time I was going through treatment - it was not easy, but I had a roll model.   I made a commitment to use my art to help raise money to find a cure for breast cancer, and  have been looking for a new way to raise money using my art to donate to the Susan Komen Foundation.  In the past I have donated a certain percentage from sales of my art at the gallery or paintings to use as prizes or silent auction items.  I am looking for something small and manageable that I can donate 100% of the sale to the Susan Komen Foundation and came up with the idea of selling the mini 3x3 canvases with a blank card and envelope  - kind of like a "message /gift in an envelope " at my next art show or in my ETSY shop.  The mini 3x3 canvas can be a gift as well as a card - kind of a two for one thingy.

To enter my giveaway - simply leave me a comment - one way or another -as to what you think about the idea of a "message/gift  in an envelope" ?  I   hope that I explained my idea well enough for you to understand - if you don't get it - I understand and just leave a comment that it was confusing. Any comment will qualify for the drawing to win my giveaway that will be announced on Friday October 19th.  Sorry - anonymous comments will  not quality . If you are a follower of my blog your name will be put in the hat twice.  Thank you for your input and  participation in my quest to use  my ART FOR A CURE.

Thank you for visiting.  I sincerely appreciate your visits, e-mails, comments and those who follow my blog. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see me paint something special.

Have a lovely week.  Blessings, Erin
